In the state’s Lere Local Government Area, members of the Kaduna State Vigilante Service shot and killed a suspected female kidnapper and detained 12 others.
According to a Daily Trust report, on Tuesday, August 16, vigilantes raided the kidnappers’ hideout in Garun Kurama Ward, Mariri Unit of the LGA.
A community leader, who did not mention his name for security reasons, confirmed the incident, saying the community was being terrorised by bandits.
“It was true that the suspected kidnappers were arrested on Tuesday. We are suffering from their activities in this area,” he said.
Similarly, a vigilante, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the female suspect was killed during the raid around 3pm.
“We arrested 13 kidnappers, from their hideout with the community youths. We destroyed the camp and one female suspect was killed on the spot,” he said.
According to him, those arrested were handed over to police.
