Ike Ekweremadu, a former deputy senate president, will remain in detention after the Central Criminal Court in the UK adjourned its investigation into an organ harvesting allegation against him.
Remember that Ike and his wife Beatrice were detained by the London Metropolitan Police in June and are now being charged with conspiring to arrange or enable the flight of another person in order to exploit, namely organ harvesting.
While his wife was granted bail on July 22, the former Deputy Senate President who appeared in court on Thursday August 4, asked that a new lawyer represent him. This is his third appearance in court after being arrested.
The pretrial applications will be heard by the judge on October 31, but the trial will commence fully on May 2, 2023.
