Video As Shauwn Mkhize Not Linked To Thabo Bester

An investigative journalist, Karyn Maughan,  has proven that Shauwn Mkhize, also known as MaMkhize, has nothing to do with Thabo Bester, who was convicted of rape, murder, and fraud.

This is because of untrue claims on social media.

Even though there was a lot of talk about Thabo Bester’s ties to businesswoman MaMkhize on social media, the source of the story set the record right.

On Sunday morning, the Royal AM CEO found herself trending over false allegations. This, after popular Twitter account Man’s Not Barry Roux tweeted: “Shauwn Mkhize aka Mamkhize is accused of allegedly visiting Thabo Bester in jail before he walked out”.

The Twitter account later backtracked on the allegations.

The wild allegations come after News24 reporter Karyn Maughn claimed that a “well-known celebrity” was linked to Bester. Speaking to Newzroom Afrika, she also alleged that a “billionaire” businesswoman had visited Bester at the Mangaung Correctional Centre.

Clarifying her own comments, Maughan tweeted: “The prison records provided by @G4S do not list Shauwn Mkhize as having visited Thabo Bester in prison. She was not one of the celebrities that we know visited him.

“I’m not sure where her name entered into this story. I certainly did not name her”.

Maughan added in another tweet: “She is not the celebrity I was referring to.”

Following the trending tweets, MaMkhize wasted no time in clapping back. In an Instagram Story, the Royal AM CEO distanced herself from the allegation.

She said in a video posted on her Instagram Stories “Stop putting me in these things I am not involved in.”

Following Maughan’s tweets, MaMkhize added in another IG Story: “People can drag your name for no reason…stop featuring me where I don’t belong”.

Man’s Not Barry Roux then backtracked on its original tweets.

“We’ve been phoning a number of the people who’ve been visiting him, and a number of the people he listed as contacts – including a very well-known celebrity, who we know,” Maughan said in her original interview with Newzroom Afrika this week. We’ve seen her on TV.”

Maughan also stated that Bester would be visited in prison by a notable female. Bester was convicted of rape and murder in 2012 and sentenced to life in prison at the Magaung Correctional Centre.

She added: “He was receiving visits from a woman who he claims to be this successful billionaire after the start of his relationship with Nandipha, which began in 2017”.
