Premier League club, Nottingham Forest have dispelled reports Emmanuel Dennis turned down an invitation to represent Nigeria for the friendlies against Algeria.
Dennis was invited as a replacement for the injured Adana Demirspor winger, Henry Onyekuru by head coach, Jose Peseiro.
But the former Club Brugge player opted out of the game after sustaining an injury in Nottingham Forest’s 3-2 defeat to Fulham last weekend.
Dennis was accused of rejecting the invitation after Peseiro originally overlooked him.
But Nottingham Forest have now debunked the allegation and stated the versatile striker is truly injured.
“Taiwo Awoniyi has both been called up to the Nigeria squad for their friendly against Algeria. Emmanuel Dennis, meanwhile, has withdrawn due to injury,” reads a statement on the club’s official website.
The 24-year-old has made seven appearances for the Super Eagles with a goal to his name.
